I have not flown in about 10 years and am therefore not up to date with everything related to flying. While checking the website, yet I have some questions about hand luggage. Says I have a hand (and the lists of dimensions) and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. “I can use a backpack as my” personal “element or is too big? Thanks!

A small backpack as your personal element is in order. A rule of 36-inch personal issue is the maximum allowed by many airlines.
A backpack can provide a personal item that can fit under the seat in front of you.
