Airline Carry On Rules For Luggage

I’m going to Disney World in 5 days but I don’t feel comfortable checking my seven hundred dollar video camera with my suitcase. Only because last year all of my Nintendo DS games were stolen out of my suitcase once I checked them at the airport.

I am flying JFK through Jet Blue. I know airlines have stricter rules since 9/11, such as no water bottles or liquids.. so can I bring a cam corder?
