Are you allowed to Bring Zippos on the plane as a carry-on or the luggage on the bottom of the plane?

Im going to Taiwan for my summer break and im wondering if I can bring my zippo with me without buying the zippo carrying case thing. I heard differently from many different people. Some people said you cant bring them and others said that you can bring it as the luggage under the plane but not as a carry-on luggage item. I even heard that they allowed you to bring zippos on planes now?

  1. Not likely, I wasn’t allowed to have one when I went to Canada

  2. Not on the plane but I’m sure you can put it in your suitcase.

  3. No now go back to Saudi Arabia

  4. You can’t carry them on at all, but they can go under the plane with your luggage as long as they don’t have lighter fluid in them.

  5. You are not allowed to bring Zippo lighters or any kind of lighter on the plane. You can bring one Zippo lighter with your checked luggage. I think there’s a problem for people that have several Zippos in checked luggage.

  6. You cannot carry lighters into the passenger cabin, but the TSA website says you can carry lighters in your baggage under certain conditions. Follow the link.

  7. do not carry anything on your person that you cannot afford to have taken away forever. if you wish to carry a lighter on your person put it in a pack of cigarettes, the foil in the cigarette pack will be detectable so you must surrender your pack to go outside the machines they check with: x-ray, metal detector and so on. but in my experience they never open the box – i only smoke box – to see what is inside. i wonder how much C4 you can fit in a cigarette box?

  8. No, lighters aren’t allowed on board flights in the USA in your carry-on, and restrictions do apply for your checked luggage. TSA’s website says this:

Lighters – All lighters are prohibited as carry-on items. Lighters without fuel are permitted in checked baggage. Lighters with fuel are prohibited in checked baggage, unless they adhere to DOT exemptions, which allow up to two fueled lighters if properly enclosed in a DOT approved case. If you are uncertain as to whether your lighter is prohibited, please refrain from bringing it to the airport.

I hope that helps. I got that from TSA’s website, TSA. gov. Have fun on your trip!

I belive you need them in checked baggage on the plane I know you can not take the safety board released.

  10. In todays world NO WAY. No lighters on board if they catch you with a light at the metal detector they will take it from you. So carry matches.

  11. Where are you people getting your information from? Guesses? Idiots. Zippos are considered common lighter and therefore have been allowed on planes since 2007.
