Are you allowed to reusable water bottle (plastic or aluminum) in hand luggage have?

We’re about to take an airplane trip across the US and am trying to be green. I use reusable water bottles and am wondering if I would be allowed to bring an empty one through security and onboard with me. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

  3. Yes, any type of empty water bottle is allowed. I often take empty water bottles and fill them once I pass security. They come in handy and it saves money.
