Question About What You Can Bring On Airplane?

I know you can only bring 3 oz containers of liquid on the airplane in your carry-on, but if you check in your bag, can you have bigger liquid amounts…i.e. can you put a bigger bottle of Listerine in your bag if you check it in and not carry it on board?

  1. It IS confusing and a good question!
This all started because a few years ago a group of people tried to bring liquid explosives on board a plane in their carry-ons. Airport Security now limits the type and amount of liquids brought on board to keep this from happening again.
Because checked luggage is less of a problem you do not have the same kinds of limitations on what and how much you can bring with in your checked luggage. Yes, you definitely can bring much more in your checked bags. If you’re definitely bringing a checked bag then I would just put ALL the (non-medication) liquids (that are not fragile) in the checked bag to avoid a possible delay at security.
If you were not planning on bringing a checked bag you are allowed to bring MULTIPLE containers that are each up to 3.4 ounces or 100ml in your carry-on. All the 100ml (or less) containers simply need to fit inside a resealable plastic (zip loc type) bag that is 1 quart or liter (20 cm X 20 cm) or less in size.
In you checked bag however, bring as much as you like!
I hope you have a great trip!!

  2. Yes.
You can put any quantity of liquids in your checked baggage.
That’s basically the idea – put your liquids in your checked bag – not in your carry on bag.
