  1. Sure you can.
    Just make sure to check what items are not allowed by the airline company you’re flying with.
    Though it’s more expensive than elsewhere, it’s safer to buy your snacks after security check.
    If you are thinking of bringing other kind of food (for example my parents just brought some special frozen meat), use the proper container.
    Just recently my carry-on was full with Miss Vickies chips packets (I love the vinegar salt kind) as where I was visiting they don’t have this brand.

  2. You can carry food items no problem.. you cannot take any liquids more than 3 ounces though… even if take little containers you have to put them in ziplock bags and take out of ur carryon and place in the tray before scanning.
    But you can take food items in general like chips, nuts, fruit, cookies etc etc…
    I do it all the time with my 2 kids travelling with me.
