Does Anyone Know If You Can Bring A Zippo Lighter On An Airplane In Your Checked Or Carry-on Luggage?

I’m afraid you absolutely can’t bring your lighter on board with you in your carry-on luggage (or in your pocket), even if it doesn’t have fuel in it. The TSA (Transport Security Administration) is pretty adamant about that.
As for the checked baggage rules regarding lighters, you may take up to two fueled Zippo lighters in your checked baggage, if they are properly enclosed in a Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved case. These cases are vapor-tight plastic boxes that can accommodate a single Zippo lighter; they are clearly marked by the manufacturer to show that they comply with the DOT regulations, which helps security officers identify them easily during screening.
Bottom line, if your lighter isn’t a Zippo, or if you don’t have the appropriate DOT-approved case to package it in when you check it, don’t bother bringing it. It’ll get taken away from you at the security checkpoint, and you won’t be able to get it back — instead, the airline will consider it hazardous and destroy it.
Hope this helps. I think your best bet might just be buying a few disposable lighters when you get to your destination!

    As per the TSA website:
You may take up to 2 fueled Zippo lighters in your checked baggage if they are properly enclosed in a DOT approved case. You can bring unlimited quantities of unfueled lighters in your checked baggage. If you are uncertain as to whether your lighter is prohibited, please refrain from bringing it to the airport.http://www.tsa.gov/

  2. No you can’t bring nothing like that on the airplane now the people are strict at the airport.

  3. Katherin is wrong and Holl is 100% correct. You can indeed bring your Zippo oil fueled lighter on board. I do not think you can however bring the Zippo Blu butane on board.

  4. Where can I get DOT approved cases for my zippos lighters?

  5. You CAN bring a zippo lighter in your carry on baggage, as long as it it not a torch-style lighter. It is ctually recommended that you bring it in your carry on baggage, as it has a higher chance of exploding in the un-pressurised cabin where your luggage is stored.
