I don’t see either mentioned on the TSA/FAA website’s lists of items allowed/banned. Any experience with this? I don’t want to have to leave something behind! Thanks!!!

Ballpoint pens are fine. I think the picture frame will be fine too, although you could try emailing TSA or calling your air carrier. They allow laptop computers, which have glass in them, along with metal. Shoot, you can bring sharp scissors that are shorter than 4″, which still long enough to do some damage.
