Airline Carry On Rules

I’m considering shipping my mechanism by the mail or checking it. Either way, we wish to take at slightest the harddrive carry-on with me, so it won’t get damaged.

However, will this be allowed? Would the confidence consider it’s a little uncanny bomb-like contraption? Also, would we be means to get divided with receiving things similar to the Power Supply, Ram, Video Card, etc with me as carry-on or would which only weird em out even some-more with all the wires? I’m drifting American Airlines inside of the continental US.

Anybody with experience/knowledge, greatfully give advice.
