You can carry liquids (both of these qualify) if and only if they are packaged as no more than 3.5 ounces (note that the original bottle has to be 3.5 ounces or less – not the remaining fluid. So you cannot bring a half full 7 ounce bottle) and all of the items are contained in one zip lock bag, quart size. (Many airports offer the bags if you forget – but it’s best to be prepared).
If you makeup or contact lens solution bottles exceed this size, then you must put it in your checked baggage.
NOTE: For metric folks, it’s 100 ml and 1 liter ziplock bag.
NOTE 2: London Heathrow airport may have different requirements – I suggest you look them up on the web.
Rules change often in times like these. Just be prepared for it to be inspected inside and out. Many items that aren’t allowed on-board can be shipped to you on your return if it’s something you don’t want to discard- they did that when I accidentally brought a small pocket knife!
You can bring those items in your carry on luggage, as far as the makeup it must just be 3 oz or less each and be packed in a 1 qt. clear zip lock bag. For the contact solution I would just either pack in the zip lock bag or when going through security take it out on its own and let the screenors know that you have it with you. I travel with my solution all the time and have never had an issue. For the complete list of what is and is not allowed on the aircraft with you visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/
