I Will “carry On” A Small Puppy On My Airplane How Does That Work When I Go Through Security At The Airport?
I haven’t travelled on a plane since the attacks happened so haven’t had to go through security. But how do I go through security with a puppy. Do I need specific information on the puppy? Do they Xray the puppy? (stupid question maybe but I didn’t know if they did that as well)

You can call for that information when you know what airline you will be using..
I have a friend that took her teacup chihuahua on a flight w/out telling the airline, she just put him in her zip-up sweatshirt, and no one ever noticed. I dont think its a very good plan, though. But its possible.
I stand corrected. American airlines does accept pets in the cabin. See link below.
The way I’m getting these links is by going to the offical website of the airlines and then using the search feature within the website and searching for pet.
I have attached a link to your other question listing the restrictions and requirements for Delta. Here is another link from a different airlines (Southwest) bad link they don’t accept pets. I will get another one. OK I found that American Airlines does accept pets in the cabin see link below
I flew with my dachshund as carry on recently. What you need no more than a week before you go is a health certificate from your vet. This basically entails taking your dog in for a “wellness exam”, your vet fills out a USDA form, and you’re good to go.
. Then it’s right back into the carrier.
What they’ll do when you get to the checkpoint is ask you to remove the pup from the bag. You have to walk the dog through the security gate (you can’t carry it) while they x-ray the carrier. They’ll probably coo and fuss over your baby, too
Also, I’m not sure if you did this already, but you need to be sure to call ahead and make sure the airline knows you’ve got a puppy on board. There are limits to how many animals can ride in the cabin and there is an extra fee involved–it cost us $100 each way. Also, your carrier has to be airline-approved; I’d check this beforehand to make sure you don’t run into nasty delays at the airport. We missed a connection and my poor baby had to go so badly!
Good luck on your flight!
once again you will not be permitted to carry on your animal. It will be taken from you and will travel in the cargo hold of the plane.
If the airline you are taking is allowing pets on board, you’ll have to take the puppy out of the carrier and than go with him through the security check-up (carrier goes empty through the scanner with your personal luggage). As for documents, you need a vets “certificate” verifying that your pet has got all needed shots.
