If I Can’t Bring Liquid Containers On The Airplane, Then How Can I Carry My Liquids Through Customs?
They have this new rule that passengers cannot bring any liquid containers or bottles (shampoo, nail polish, cans of soda, hairspray, cough syrup, lotion, etc) on the plane. If you do, then you have to throw it away before boarding the flight.
I will be flying down to Florida next week and I really need to take my Suntan lotion and medication. Should I put the suntan lotion in another container? Should I put the medication in another container?
Advice please?!

This rule isn’t exactly new. It’s been going on for quite some time now. If you are going to check any bags, put any larger liquid items in there. If not, then just make sure everything is in a 3oz container (or smaller) and stuff it all into 1 quart size zip lock bag. You can buy little containers to put shampoo, lotion, etc in at target, walmart, etc. You shouldn’t need more than 3oz of any of these items unless you are going for an extremely long amount of time. If that is the case, just buy some there. Any medications should be brought along with you.
The container is irrelevant. It’s the amount of liquid that matters, not which container it is in. Just pack your suntan lotion in your suitcase. The rule does not apply to checked luggage. Or, buy some in Florida. You really don’t need to carry suntan lotion with you. It’s sold everywhere.
Your medication can be carried in your carry-on bag even if it is more than 3oz. You just have to declare it to the security people. Don’t stick it in your bag and try to sneak it through.
You can read the rules for medication at the TSA website: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/s…
This is not true. I fly weekly, and they allow you to take small bottles (under 4oz) in a quart sized plastic bag.
If you don’t have small bottles, then you need to put them in your checked bag.
suitcase, checked
You need to put them in an suitcase that may be checked
