Can You Bring Snack Foods Like Pretzels Onto An Airplane In Your Carry-on Bag?

I’m bringing some jolly ranchers, my electronics, and some other things in my carry-on bag. Can I bring a small-ish bag of pretzels on too ? I’m afraid to put it in my normally baggage because it might get crushed. They are to snack on for my hotel room, not the plane.
Help ! I don’t want to repack my bag in front of everyone, just because of some food.
Or have to throw it away on the spot.
Thanks !

  1. yes, you can bring all the granola bars, pretzels, etc. thru security with you.
you can not bring bottled water, juice, etc
you can buy drinks and food in the terminal and take it on the plane to eat too!

  2. You will have to throw it away. No food or beverages are allowed to be carried through the security checkpoint.
I was wrong, some food items are ok. Rules have changed.

  3. Yes, you can bring dry goods onto a plane in your carry-on bag. Any liquid snacks (water, soft drinks, juice) must be purchased at the airport after the security check, but then that can be carried on, as well.

    they won’t allow it
so leave it in your bag
    and no drinks allow

  5. yes you can. i brought a pair of hermit crabs, tank and all, in a carry-on once. however, you cant bring a drink unless it is in a shotglass-sized container or wax bottle candies.

  6. Yup, but you can’t go through security check with food. So you would have to buy it at a stand in the airport after you go through security and stuff.

  7. Yes you can bring them on the plane. I have brought on crackers and pretzels many times. Put them in a tupperware container if you are worried about crushing them.

  8. I’m not sure you can, because I think planes don’t allow to have any type of food. So yeah…! But you probably will be allowed! YaY!
    Good Luck! =]

Why couldn’t you? Only beverages are not aloud, as criminal researchers have found that people with criminal intention can do quite a lot of harmful things with liquids that appear to be normal beverages on planes…

  10. ehnope!
    security X-rays the bags.
if they see food or drinks they make you throw them out
i would know i tried it in summer of 07 hah

  11. You sure can. You can double check the Transportation Safety Administration website also to check what you can take on board.

  12. Yes, you can, there are no limits on food as long as it isn’t liquid or gel-like. I do it all the time.

  22. We travel with kids. Formula is OK but it is tested and will take 10 minutes delay.

We also travel with peanuts – in the shell. It keeps the little fingers busy. NEVER a problem.

IMHO … The “peanut issue” was the slipping of the envelope, by the airline industry, to cut back expense.

Have you seen how bored the cabin now are? Nothing to do. An almost…just under six hour flight to Hawaii has them … over qualified and under utilized. A McDonald’s cashier is stimulated more times an hour.
