Can You Bring A Sleeping Bag On An Airplane As Carry-on?

I am visiting a college this weekend, and they recommended that we bring a sleeping bag and a pillow. I really don’t want to check it in, but I am not sure if they will let me bring it on as my second “personal item” along with my duffel bag. The airline is SouthWest if that makes any difference.

  1. It depends on the size of your sleeping bag, but unless you have a very small sleeping bag most sleeping bags are well over the size limit to be considered your personal item. Southwest doesn’t charge to check baggage, you can check allowances and see whether you can comply with the size restrictions:http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/b…

  2. dude just dont. there probably wouldn’t be a problem at the baggage checker but it would take up to much space and if your on southwest you can probably ask for a balnket and neck pillow if you were thinking about sleeping during the flight. other wise just buy one at your destination if you have to.

put the sleeping bag in a carry-on bag then when you get on the plane you can take it out if you wanted to. They’ll let you take your pillow if you were wanting to take your pillow on the plane..(:
