Can I Bring License Plates In My Airplane Carry-on?

They’re a gift & I don’t want to lose them at security. I can’t find them listed on the TSA website under allowed items. Thanks!

  1. They should be fine. They aren’t on the list of things that aren’t allowed, which would mean that they aren’t prohibited.

  2. Yes, you can bring license plates on your airplane carry-on. You won’t lose them at security. My dad ran an automotive import/export business for many years and regularly traveled with license plates rather than risk the plate be stolen during transit.

  3. I can’t see why they wouldn’t be, but then I don’t see why half the stuff the TSA requires what it does. Like the other guy said, I’d ship them to be sure. And make sure you insure them.

  4. I highly doubt that … be safe and ship them.

  5. Yes, you can. I did it from an international flight. They are consider like a souvenir or within that matter/gifts, etc. and they are not sharp items.
What people be aware of are those souvenirs like small bottles with liquid on it or sand…sometimes they do get confiscated.
