Traditionally, all El Al pilots have been armed. I think they still are.
And if you’re worried about the bullets messing things up with regards to cabin pressure, I suggest you remember the episode of Mythbusters that dealt with this very issue. A pistol making a pinhole in the side of an airplane, according to that show, didn’t do much in the way of reducing the cabin pressure.

Most do. They need to protect themselves, the airline, and the passengers. Plus there are other agents on random flights. The more guns the better in case a terrorist thinks he/she can ruin the lives of several hundred people by pulling a razor blade on someone.

I believe not.Pressurised cabins dont make for the best circumstances for a firearm. They now have security doors that can not be opened from outside, although I think most pilots would open the door if they thought the passengers were at risk.It is the price we pay for the world we live in.

These special pilots volunteer to participate in federal programs, like sky marshalls and are authorized by the government to carry a weapon, but it’s not all of them.

A very few may; most rely on other security measures.

Yes. Maybe 2% or so. Homeland security keeps the number secret.

No, who would you give it to? FedEx 705 is a example why not. If they gave him a gun things would have been much worse.
