   You probably won’t be able to find a commercial carrier that will allow a dog that big on the plane, but cargo is doable. Most carriers circulate the same air that is in the cabin through to the baggage hold–or at least they have a separate baggage compartment for pets that has the cabin air. Make sure to ask about this.
   You also need to keep in mind the temperatures your dog will be flying in. Try to avoid summer as it will be quite hot (and possibly humid) and your dog will likely be on a baking tarmac with the other luggage waiting to go to the terminal. If you have to fly in the summer, an evening flight is better. And try to avoid stopovers for the same reason. If there are no direct flights, try to break up your flight with a night in-between so your dog can recuperate. Some airlines will even let you drop off your dog at the gate (like with a stroller) and pick it up at the gate, check if your airline allows this.
   Finally, be VERY careful tranquilising your dog when it’s flying. Altitude can have funny effects on medications like this and most veterinarians will recommend against them. Talk to your vet first. Unfortunately, most of the pet deaths that occur on flights are due to tranquilisers.
   All in all, most people have no problems flying their dogs as long as they take precautions. Bon Voyage!

   Once they reach a certain weight you have to give them a sedative and they go below with the cargo. There is no way to bring a larger dog on a flight with you! Since you are going to Hawaii looks as though that will be your best bet! When my husband and I thought we were gonna move to Guam we checked out all of this as we have 2 labs that weigh about 80 lbs each. It is safer for your dog to be asleep and below than on a plane with other passengers. Hope this helps!

   Most airlines have a weight restriction of about 20 pounds to go in the main cabin (as well as size restrictions about how well they fit in the under-seat carrier). Otherwise they’ll have to fly in the cargo hold.

   The only larger dogs that can fly with you are Service Dogs. If your dog can fit into a airline approved crate that can go under your seat, you might be able to take your dog in the cabin with you. I always fly American with my dog. Good luck;^)

   You won’t be able to have your dog as a carry on. My suggestion is to fly him Delta Dash as it is temperature and pressure regulated and they have minimal stops for animals. I have successfully used them several times and it is about $120 for up to 55 lbs. Good luck
