Airline Carry On Rules For Luggage

Alright answer all of my questions please !
I’m flying alone to visit friends in Tennesee, going from California. I’m 15 also.

1. My Mom will check me in correct?
2. She can get me through security and all?
3. I have a connecting flight and need help ..
4. I’m not bringing a carry on, but can I carry my cellphone and ipod with me?
5. Is United airlines a good airline?
6. What airline do you recommend best?
