Airline Carry On Rules For Luggage

my puppy is only 15 pounds, but shes tall. I’m flying with Delta, and in the summer, so I only have the choice of carry-on or cargo. Cargo just sounds inhumane, and I’m really paranoid about her getting put on the wrong plane.

But then, it’s three flights ANC-BUF, totalling 12 hours. I would also feel cruel having her stuffed under a seat for that long of a period (although it is an overnight flight, so hopefully she would sleep).

I just cant imagine her fitting under a seat, but the airline allows you to keep two animals up to 20 pounds each in carry-on.. how in the world could THAT fit under a seat?

Oh, and during the flight, are you allowed to put the dog (in kennel) on your lap, or must they stay under the seat for the entire flight?
