Airline Carry On Rules For Luggage

I will be flying Spirit on June 9th and come back June 24th from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale. They have a stupid rule now that it cost 20 dollars online or 40 dollars at the airport to check in a bag. So, my mom now is just going to get a smaller bag to check in. I have a a belkin laptop case in a form of a small backpack. Will they let me bring it oIt hardly fits a laptop so I am just bringing that, my cell phone, camera, and ipod. I will also get a couple dvds, gum, and magazine. Will they let me bring this free of charge? If not I get to bring nothing, isn’t that great! The carry on hardly fits my clothes, so that’s it. They have always let you bring a purse for girls or a laptop case not included as a carry-on. I am already upset that that’s all I get to bring. Any feedback is fine. I am just sick of all these rules… Thanks!
I donot want to bring it, and then they tell me I can’t take it, because my parents aren’t going to let me. Thanks, again!
